So I have to be honest with you here, I didn't make the cake! I had 80 macarons to make as well so I just didn't have time.
So I bought two small cakes and sandwiched them together x
I found this fab video tutorial about the ruffle icing technique and you can watch it here!
For the buttercream I used this recipe:
140g butter
280g icing sugar
1-2 tablespoons milk
2 tsp strawberry essence
I always sieve the icing sugar first!
For the decoration I used the wonderful tutorial by Patchwork Harmony and you can read it here. Thanks so much Caroline! I absolutely love it - and so did Karen!
It was so easy to follow, so I printed the name out on card, cut it out with scissors and a scalpel and used a pritt stick glue, then covered it in glitter! I added some cute little stars too.
Then using washi tape, I attached these gorgeous paper straws I got from Iced Jems - you can buy them here!
I think for quite a simple technique this is really effective and I'm sure I will make many more of these!
Let me know if you've made one similar or if you try for yourself!
